2018 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2017, all NSW public schools will receive a 2018 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. NDIS continues its roll out across NSW

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) started in NSW in July 2016, rolling out across half of the state. The rollout for the rest of NSW started on 1 July 2017 and the NDIS will be fully rolled out by mid 2018. NSW schools will participate in the NAPLAN Online School Readiness Test from 14 August to 22 September. There is a lot of information for schools, students and parents on the NAPLAN Online transition website. Macarthur Girls High School is a BYOD school and over 95% of students from Years 7-12 have their own devices. Measles outbreak in western Sydney

There is currently an outbreak of measles in South Western and Western Sydney, with at least 9 people having acquired the disease in the region during March 2017. The reported cases include children and infants who have attended childcare centres and secondary schools. There is potential for the measles outbreak to spread further as the infected young people have large social networks both within and outside of their schools, and some have travelled on public transport whilst infectious. HSC Minimum Standards Update

Attn Years 7-9 Students: The NSW Government has recently announced that from 2020, all Year 12 students must reach a minimum standard of functional literacy and numeracy to receive the HSC. Students will demonstrate they meet the standard by achieving a pass in new online reading, writing and numeracy tests that will be developed by NESA.
